Lt Gen. Waldemar SKRZYPCZAK: For the Land Forces, the last two years were full of new challenges and dynamic changes affected by participation in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The completely new dimension of these challenges has left its mark on the achievements of the Land Forces. Political decisions placed new tasks before the armed forces, taking us into a completely new dimension.

On 30 July 2008 Lubawa signed a contract on equipment deliveries to the Polish Armed Forces. The deal, worth PLN 1.12 million, involves the purchase of complete technical pneumatic tents. The order is due to be fulfilled by the end of November 2008.

Under an agreement with Bumar and Fabryka Broni, in 2008 the Ministry of National Defence plans to purchase the following weapons manufactured by the latter company: 3,216 5.56mm wz.96 Beryl aassault rifles (priced at PLN 4,200 each), including 35 of the Beryl-szkolny model and 40 of the Beryl-cutaway model, as well as 552 5.56mm wz.96 Mini Beryl carbines (gross price PLN 3,900) and 200 9mm wz.98 (PM-98) Glauberyt submachine guns (priced at PLN 3,300), worth a total of PLN 16.2 million.
