The third day of the fair saw closing of a cycle of conferences on modernisation of Polish Armed Forces. The subject of the discussion was: Polish soldier of the future: armament, optics, communications, defence systems.
The conference was opened by Cezary Szczepański, Vice-President of the Board of Bumar Group, and introduction was delivered by Lech Kościuk, the Director of the Transformation Department of the MoD. Ryszard Kardasz, President of PCO and Remigiusz Wilk, Chief Editor of Broń i Amunicja (Arms and Ammo) magazine acted as moderators.
The conference was split into several blocks. Three papers covered individual equipment of a future soldier, and these were delivered by Ryszard Woźniak from WAT, Karol Wilk from OBR SM Tarnów and Lesław Mazur from ZM Dezamet. Apart from discussing the latest modular individual small arms for the Polish Army: the MSBS-5,56 universal rifle – the WAT representative mentioned a future development project of a new semi-automatic pistol, successor to the WIST, developed by the Warsaw-based university and the Radom-based Fabryka Broni (Arms Factory). Karol Wilk, apart from presenting sniper rifles from OBR SM – Tor (Wilk), Bor (Alex-7,62) and Alex-338, and the RGP-40 40 mm multi-grenade launcher, has also mentioned the plans of the Tarnów establishment to develop a small-calibre grenade-launcher with programmable ammunition. The representative of ZM Dezamet has discussed in detail the SBAO-40 modular single grenade launcher with a range of Polish 40 mm x 46SR ammunition.
Two papers covered communcation systems, these were delivered by Franciszek Wasilewski from DGT and Andrzej Synowiecki from Radmor. The questions of future soldier’s interoperability were discussed by Andrzej Golonko from WB Electronics, and the optoelektronic equipment was presented by Zygmunt Mogiła-Lisowski from PCO, including a presentation of the first Polish colimator sight and the digital range-finding binoculars currently under development. Krzysztof Dędek from Maskpol waived a traditional presentation, and discussed the latest ballistic shields developed by the company, presented by models present at the conference.
