At last year’s MSPO, Lubawa SA won a Defender prize for its TNP/2008 Technical Pneumatic Tent. This year the factory is additionally presenting new pneumatic tents which form the basis of complete sleeping quarters. The tents are on display at Lubawa’s stand and at the exposition of the armed forces.
At first glance one would think that the production of tents shouldn’t present any serious technological problems. In fact, though, only a few factories in Europe are capable of making state-of-the-art tents on pneumatic frames covered with top-class highly resistant fabric. Poland’s Lubawa SA is one of them.
The company has supplied the military with two TNP/2008 tents, mainly for carrying out field repairs of heavy armoured equipment. The size: length 20.1 m, width 9.8 m, and maximum height 5.7 m, allows practically all heavy vehicles to be repaired inside, while a wide range of extra accessories guarantee good work conditions for soldiers from the technical service. At the same time, the pneumatic frame reduces the weight of the whole kit to about 600 kg, and means that 8 people need just 40 minutes to put the tent up.
The company has supplied 20 sets of sleeping quarters as well, each comprising 6 new pneumatic tents and a range of extra equipment such as air conditioning.
Lubawa has also won a tender for the delivery of multiple-use covers with dynamic drying systems - UPWU-D. The armed forces have ordered 47 such kits.
The company’s representatives have revealed that there has been preliminary interest in the pneumatic tents, especially the biggest ones, from the Czechs and Estonians. However, the company is pinning its greatest hopes on the Chinese market. An agreement on establishing a joint venture, involving a Chinese partner and first announced some time ago, could be finalized in the near future. The sales market for modern pneumatic tents in China is even estimated at more than a thousand tents per year, a figure impossible to achieve in any European country.
