The ALTAIR Air Agency Ltd. was established in 1990, and began by publishing the monographic series Przeglad Konstrukcji Lotniczych (Review of Aircraft Design) which was a market sensation at the time. After acquiring the rights to the title Skrzydlata Polska, since 1993 it has been the publisher of this periodical, the oldest aviation magazine in Poland. At the same time, the Agency started publishing several book series, including the most popular one, Najwieksze bitwy XX wieku (The Greatest Battles of the 20th Century). The series Lotnicze Wspomnienia (Aviator Memoirs) has featured the memoirs of engineer Tadeusz Soltyk and Col. Jan Malinski. In subsequent years the company launched more titles of its own: Przeglad Lotniczy, AeroPlan, RAPORT – wojsko, technika, obronnosc and LOTNIK – General Aviation Magazine.
Entrance to the company and editorial offices
Today the ALTAIR Air Agency Ltd. is involved in publishing and consulting activities as well as organizing seminars and various events related to aviation and defence. Initially the company employed a staff of four, and today has over ten employees and dozens of collaborators in Poland and around Europe - all leading specialists in their fields.
For the first 12 years the Air Agency was based in Warecka Street, a location our readers soon got used to. As the company developed, the editorial offices had to move. From 2002, the headquarters of the company and most of the editorial offices were in one place again, at 1 Sw. Barbary Street. In 2007 we changed our headquarters yet again, moving to Warsaw's Powiśle district, to 16/22 Fabryczna Street, still in the city centre.
