Narew contract

Imprezy branżowe, Przemysł zbrojeniowy, Ludzie, 08 września 2021

Signing a framework agreement between the Armament Inspectorate of the Ministry of National Defence and the PGZ-Narew Consortium was an important event on the first day of MSPO. The document regulates the conditions for the award and fulfilment of performance contracts for the supply of a short-range air defence system (codename Narew) for the Polish Army.

The PGZ-Narew Consortium includes: PGZ Polish Armaments Group (the consortium leader), HSW, Jelcz, Mesko, Maritime Technology Centre R&D Establishment, PCO, PIT-Radwar, WZŁ-1 Military Communications Works, WZU Military Armament Works, WZE Military Electronic Works, and ZM Tarnów. The Narew sets will include: special vehicles, fire control systems, mobile communication nodes, radar stations, optoelectronic devices, guided surface-to-air missiles with their launchers, and transport-loading vehicles. The Ministry of National Defence plans ordering 23 sets. There are also plans to provide training and logistic support. The estimated value of the project is several dozen billion zlotys. According to the Ministry of Defence, the signing of contracts with suppliers of individual components of the set should be completed in 2023.

James Price, MBDA Vice-President for Europe, said: MBDA is committed to fully meeting Poland’s ambitions to have a potent and entirely Polish-made Narew system. Thanks to our close co-operation with PGZ, and with the support of the UK Government, we are offering unprecedented Technology Transfer to ensure this missile is built in Poland, by Poles for Poland’s sovereign use. The latest generation of CAMM family air defence missiles will provide a best in class capability for Polish forces and for the nation’s defence on land and at sea.
